Eternal Chase

What you equip is what you see

Helmets, armour and quivers stopped being numbers on a sheet. Every piece in the realm has its own shape on your vassal — and the amulet glows at the collar.

Until now, swapping helmets changed your defence and nothing else. The vassal walked out of the portal with the same silhouette as always.

Not anymore. Every piece of equipment in the realm has its own shape, and it shows on the figure:

  • Four helmets, from the leather hood to the Judge's helm.
  • Eight armours, from the tunic to full plate.
  • Three quivers — and the bundle of arrows over the shoulder tells you which one you are carrying, from across the room.
  • Three amulets, which glow at the collar. The gem stays visible even in the Crypt, where the only light is a torch.

And the weapon knows where to sit

In the Square the vassal puts the weapon away: the sword goes on his back, the dagger to his belt. Entering a contract brings it back to his hand, held across the chest, the way someone stands when they expect a fight.

The scabbard only shows with the sword inside it — an empty scabbard hanging off the belt was one more strip of leather in the way of his leg.

The staff is the exception: a mage walks with his stave in hand, in the Square and in the field. That is his silhouette.

Why it matters in a fight you do not control

You do not move the vassal. You read what he is doing and rewrite his orders. The more his silhouette tells you — which weapon is in hand, which armour he wears, whether the quiver is full — the less you have to open a sheet to work out what went wrong.
